It will take you back to the days when the town was an important whaling site. Its railroad will ride you back in Lahaina's romantic history to its plantation past. As with Maui, the island of Kauai will offer many very unique attractions. One of the very first humans to have thought to visit the island happened to be in 500 AD. On Kaui you will see many different displays, and artifacts in the Kauai Museum of Cpt. James Cook when he first landed on the island in 1778. When on Kauai don't forget to visit the beautiful botanical gardens and attend a luau.

Another great island to visit is Oahu, you will find a tremendous amount of history, which can be seen through the different museums, temples, and cultural centers. Strolling through Chinatown in Oahu you will notice quiet a bit of turn of the century architectural displays. Or take the trolley through Waikki, where you can see the many historical hotels. Shark Diving In Hawaii

Hawaii has some of the best shark diving in the world. So if you are on vacation in Hawaii, you can try to swim with sharks there. An experience you will never forget.

The Hawaiian island chain is made up of 132 islands, with the two islands Maui and Oahu having the best places for a shark scuba dive. Hawaii is located 2400 miles from the nearest continent, which creates a unique underwater environment.

About 40 shark species can be found in the water around Hawaii. You can expect to see Scalloped Hammerhead Shark, Reef Whitetip Sharks and Sandbar Sharks; and if you are lucky also Tiger Sharks and even Whale Sharks.

The amazing cobalt blue water has a visibility approximately 200 feet, which makes it some of the best in the whole world. Diving in Hawaii is very special.

If you want to try an adrenalin-pumping activity, you should try shark cage diving (or more accurate shark cage swimming).

You can do a shark cage dive (or swim) near Oahu. The floating cage is placed in the water and you and up to three other persons can now swim inside the cage and encounter sharks at a very close range.

So if you have never tried a shark cage dive, you should try it, if you are on vacation in Oahu. You cannot know when you get the chance again.

Another great place for diving is Maui, which actually is considered one of the top diving destinations in the world. There is a lot of diving possibilities here, including reef diving and diving near volcanic craters.

But the most exciting encounter is certainly the amazing (and very huge) Whale Shark. You cannot expect to see them on every dive trip, because they are pretty rare. But if you are lucky, you can see them when you are diving or snorkeling.

Another and easier option is shark diving in the aquarium Maui Ocean Center. Here you can dive in the 750,000 gallon fish tanks, where you can see 20 sharks, stingrays and thousands of tropical reef fish.

So if you are going to Oahu or Maui you can dive with sharks; either in the ocean or in an aquarium. - 31999
